Overview of the Special Needs Diversionary Program for Mentally Ill Juvenile Offenders, FY 2007: This report by the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission (TJPC) is an update to SNDP section of the February 2003 report. This new report presents updated statistics on the prevalence of Mental Health disorders in Texas youth offenders by county. It also includes outcome statistics from the first five years of the Special Needs Diversionary Program, and recommendations for continuing to develop the SNDP. (March 2008)

Trauma Among Youth in the Juvenile Justice System: Critical Issues and New Directions: For youth involved with the juvenile justice system, the prevalence of youth exposed to trauma is believed to be higher than that of community samples of similarly aged youth. This paper by the National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice discusses the prevalence and impact of trauma and traumatic stress among youth in the juvenile justice system, and describes emerging responses for identifying and treating these problems. Report to the Governor and 79th Legislature: Systems of Care for Children with Severe Emotional Disturbances for Youth and their Families. This summary report by the Texas Integrated Funding Initiative (TIFI) Consortium provides recommendations to the 79th Legislature for necessary policy and statutory changes, based on the evaluations submitted to the State Consortium by local Community Resource Coordination Groups (CRCGs). The recommendations address needed changes at each agency involved in the provision of system of care services for children with severe emotional disturbances and their families, and the outcome(s) expected from the implementation of each recommendation.
