2007 Racial Profiling Report: "Smarter Policing Practices: Creating a Safer, More Unified Texas"

Our newest report includes 5 policy recommendations of best practices that we have developed throughout the past four years while we have served as the sole repository of Texas’ racial profiling reports.  Check out local data fact sheets and an alphabetical listing of agencies and consent search usage.  Click here to watch the March 28, 2007, press conference announcing our policy recommendations.

2006 Racial Profiling report: "Searching For Consent: An Analysis of Racial Profiling Data in Texas"

This report has 2 important findings, assessed from an analysis of 200 departments.  First, most departments continue to consent search Blacks and Latinos more frequently than Anglos, although the size of the racial disparity has decreased from 2003 to 2004 for approximately half of departments.  Second, many departments are searching ALL races more frequently than similarly situated departments (like neighboring departments).  Check out local data fact sheets and appendices accompanying this report.
